UpHolland Grammar School - War Memorial

Message from David Atherton, former pupil and teacher at UpHolland Grammar and now at Winstanley College. -

You may recall that in the foyer there were, next to the clock by the office window, memorial plaques relating to old boys who died in the two world wars. These were removed after UGS became Winstanley College and destroyed. Times and attitudes have changed. Due to the efforts of Carol Littler (formerly Barton), assisted by myself, the College has decided to reinstate a memorial plaque, In addition, a Memorial Book has been created which records the date of death of the pupils listed. Furthermore, I have worked with Carol to produce a book of about 50 pages which provides information about the circumstances of the deaths and burial of these old boys.
